In January 2008, Cadbury established the Cadbury Cocoa Partnership investing £45 million GBP over ten years. In early 2009 Cadbury Dairy Milk became Fairtrade in Britain and Ireland followed by Canada, Australia and New Zealand in August 2009.

Cadbury Dairy Milk Fairtrade bars hit Britain and Ireland shelves in July 2009. Canada, Australia and New Zealand have committed to certifying Cadbury Dairy Milk as Fairtrade by early 2010. In March 2010 Cadbury Dairy Milk announced investment plans for the first Fairtrade social premium of £500,000.
